Privacy Policy
No accounts, no analytics, no third-party scripts. Here is precisely what this site stores, where it stores it, and what never leaves your device.
Last updated 1 September 2026
We do not ask who you are. There are no accounts, no sign-ups and no newsletters. Your scores, favourites and play history are written to your own browser and never sent to us. We do not run analytics. The only data that could ever leave your device is whatever your browser sends to a third-party advertising network, and at the time of writing no such network is loaded on this site.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to gemarcadegames.xyz and every page on it. Contact: hello@gemarcadegames.xyz.
What is stored on your device
The site uses your browser’s local storage — not cookies — to remember a small amount of information. Local storage is readable only by this site, in this browser, on this device. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.
| Stored item | What it holds | Why |
|---|---|---|
gag:records:<game> | Best score, best gem count, best streak, best distance, best time, best level and play count for one game | So your local best can be shown next time you play |
gag:favorites | List of game slugs you have hearted | To populate the favourites page |
gag:recentlyPlayed | Up to 40 recent game slugs with timestamps | To populate the recently played page |
gag:plays | How many times you started each game | To order the popular games page by what you actually play |
gag:prefs | Sound on/off and motion preference | So the site does not forget your settings every visit |
gag:stats:* | Total plays and total gems collected across the site | Local counters only, shown back to you |
You can delete all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings. Nothing breaks — the site simply starts fresh.
What we do not collect
- No names, email addresses or account details — there are no accounts.
- No payment information — nothing on this site is for sale.
- No location data.
- No contact lists, photos, files or device identifiers.
- No search terms. Site search runs entirely in your browser against a database that is already on the page; what you type is never sent to a server.
- No behavioural analytics of our own. We do not run Google Analytics or any equivalent.
Server logs
The site is served as static files by a hosting provider. Like essentially all web hosting, the provider may keep standard access logs containing IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs and user-agent strings, for security and reliability purposes. We do not use those logs to build profiles and we do not combine them with anything else.
Advertising
This site is designed to carry advertising, and the page layouts reserve space for it. At the time of writing, no advertising network script is loaded on this site. That means no advertising cookies are set by us or through us today.
If and when an advertising network such as Google AdSense is enabled, this policy will be updated before it goes live to name the provider, describe what it sets, and link to the provider’s own privacy information. A third-party ad network would typically be able to set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser and use them to serve and measure adverts, including personalised adverts where you have consented to that. You would be able to manage those choices through your browser settings and through the ad provider’s own controls.
We will not describe a service as active before it is active.
Third-party content
The site loads no third-party scripts, no external fonts, no embedded videos, no social widgets and no content delivery networks. Every stylesheet, script and image comes from this domain. That is a deliberate choice: it keeps pages fast and it keeps the number of parties who can see your visit at one.
The one exception is outbound links in articles — if you follow a link to MDN or another external site, you are then subject to that site’s privacy practices, not ours.
Children
The games here are suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect personal information at all. If advertising is enabled in future, the site will be configured in line with the ad provider’s requirements for general-audience content.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over personal data held about you — access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Because we hold no personal data about you, in practice there is nothing for us to give you access to or erase. The information the site stores is already entirely under your control in your own browser, and you can delete it yourself at any time.
If you believe we hold something about you, email hello@gemarcadegames.xyz and we will look into it.
Security
The site is static HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no database, no login and no server-side processing, which removes entire categories of risk. We do not use eval(), we build page content with safe DOM methods rather than injecting HTML from user input, and we never store sensitive information in local storage.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — particularly enabling any third-party service — will be made before the service goes live, not after.
Frequently asked questions
Does this site use cookies?
We set no cookies of our own. The site uses local storage for your scores, favourites and preferences, which is a different mechanism and is not transmitted with requests. See the cookie policy for the full detail.
Are my high scores sent to a server?
No. They are written to your browser’s local storage and stay there. That is why we label them local bests and never present them as a worldwide ranking.
Do you run Google Analytics?
No. We run no analytics of our own at all. We have no data on which games are popular, which is exactly why the popular games page ranks by your own local play counts instead.
What happens to my data if I clear my browser?
It is gone, permanently. Scores, favourites and history all live in your browser only, so there is no backup on our side to restore from.
