About Treasure Tunnel

Treasure Tunnel is the running treasure game. The tunnels are wider than the corridors in Crystal Cave Collector and Castle Gem Hunt — 48-pixel cells against 46 — and the movement speed is higher, which means you can genuinely sprint through a passage rather than picking your way along it.

Half the treasure is buried, revealing only when you pass close. Combined with the wide passages, that creates the game's central tension: sprinting covers ground fast but takes you down the middle of a tunnel, where you might miss buried treasure sitting against a wall. Slowing down finds more and costs seconds you may not have.

Treasure gems dominate the loot table here, which is why this is the highest average gem value on the site. A detour into a side passage is genuinely likely to return thirty-five-point treasure rather than ten-point gems, and that makes the exploration decision a real one rather than a formality.

How to play Treasure Tunnel

Objective

Find and collect every piece of treasure in the tunnel network before the clock runs out.

Keyboard

  • ↑ ↓ ← → / WASD — Move through the tunnels
  • P / Esc — Pause and resume
  • M — Mute or unmute
  • R — Restart once the run is over

Touch

  • Direction buttons — Move through the tunnels
  • Drag on the play area — Steer toward your finger
  • Tap the play area — Start the run from the ready screen

What to avoid

Rock spikes and spinning cutters in the passages, plus a runaway mine cart that rattles along the tunnels on its own route. Contact costs an energy unit.

How to collect gems in Treasure Tunnel

Walk over treasure to collect it. Half the pieces start buried and appear as faint dashed outlines until you pass within about two and a half tiles, at which point they reveal with a chime. Because the tunnels are wide, hugging one wall reveals what is against that wall and misses what is against the other — sweeping a wide tunnel properly means weaving rather than running straight. All treasure must be collected to clear the level.

Treasure

Worth 35 points. Bar-shaped treasure gems mark a route worth a detour.

Gems

The standard collectible, worth 10 points before your multiplier. The backbone of every streak.

Diamonds

Worth 50 points. Bright white and always in an awkward position.

Jewels

Worth 25 points. Hexagonal, and usually placed just past an obstacle.

Power-ups

Speed Boost

Increases your movement speed for six seconds. Faster routes, but less time to read what is ahead.

Gem Magnet

Pulls nearby gems toward you for eight seconds, so you can hold a streak through an awkward gap.

Gem Vacuum

Sweeps up every gem in a wide radius automatically for five seconds.

Shield

Absorbs one collision. Your run and your collection streak both survive the hit.

Scoring and combos

Base value times your combo multiplier, plus 300 points for clearing a level and fifteen for every second left on the clock. The high proportion of treasure gems means the multiplier is worth more here than anywhere else — a five-times chain through a treasure-dense chamber is the single biggest scoring opportunity in the treasure category.

The combo rule

Every five gems collected in a row raises your multiplier by one, to a ceiling of five times. A missed gem or an unshielded hit sends it straight back to one. Twenty gems collected as one unbroken chain is worth roughly three times the same twenty gems collected with breaks in between.

Standard streak rules. The runaway cart is the main breaker, and it is avoidable: it follows tunnels and turns at walls without ever tracking you, so it is a timing problem. Most broken chains in Treasure Tunnel come from sprinting into a junction the cart happened to be entering.

Difficulty

Medium, with the fastest movement of our three treasure games at 265 pixels per second. The first network gives you 100 seconds; each level adds passages and hazards and tightens the clock. Because the tunnels are wide and the treasure is buried, difficulty scales with the thoroughness your sweep requires rather than with reaction demands.

Tips for a better score

  1. Weave through wide tunnels rather than running down the middle. Buried treasure sits against walls, and a straight sprint reveals neither side.
  2. Slow down at junctions. Almost every cart collision happens at a corner taken at full speed.
  3. Chambers are worth the detour here more than in any other game — treasure gems are over three times a plain gem.
  4. Take the vacuum into a dense chamber. It sweeps a wide radius, which suits the wide passages.
  5. If you are missing the last few pieces, go back to the widest tunnel you ran straight down.
  6. The speed power-up is worth taking immediately. In a search game, speed is coverage.

Frequently asked questions about Treasure Tunnel

Why do I keep missing treasure in tunnels I have already been down?

Because the tunnels are wide and half the treasure is buried. Running down the middle of a wide passage reveals neither wall — weaving side to side is what actually sweeps it.

What is the cart doing?

Rattling along the tunnels on its own route, turning at walls. It never follows you, so it is a timing problem rather than a chase. Most collisions happen at junctions taken at full speed.

Why is the scoring higher here than in the other treasure games?

The loot table is weighted toward treasure gems, which are worth thirty-five points against ten for a plain gem. That makes a maintained multiplier worth more here than anywhere else on the site.

How does this compare to Crystal Cave Collector?

Wider passages, faster movement, less hidden treasure and no lamp vignette. Crystal Cave Collector is about searching in the dark; Treasure Tunnel is about sweeping large spaces quickly.

Is the layout the same every run?

No. Every level generates a fresh tunnel network, and the generator guarantees that everything it places is reachable.
