About Crystal Factory
Crystal Factory is the most relaxed game on the site, and it gets there by giving you information early. Crystals do not simply fall — they ride a conveyor belt across the screen first, drifting left or right for up to a couple of seconds before they drop. That preview is the whole game: by the time something falls, you have already known where it would land for a second or more.
The skill, then, is not reflexes. It is triage. When three items are on belts at once and two of them are heading for opposite corners, the question is which one you give up, and whether the one you give up is a crystal (a broken streak) or a crate (a saved life).
It sits at the easy tier and is a good first catching game, but the belts keep it from being mindless. At higher speeds the belts start reversing items into each other, and reading three overlapping paths is a real skill even when nothing on screen is fast.
How to play Crystal Factory
Objective
Catch crystals as they come off the belts, avoid catching scrap, and keep going as the plant speeds up.
Keyboard
- ← → / A D — Move the cart along the floor
- P / Esc — Pause and resume
- M — Mute or unmute
- R — Restart once the run is over
Touch
- Left and right buttons — Move the cart
- Drag on the play area — Slide the cart straight to your finger — faster than the buttons
- Tap the play area — Start the run from the ready screen
What to avoid
Crates, spinning cutters and boulders drop from the belts alongside the crystals. Catching one costs a life; three lives ends the shift.
How to collect gems in Crystal Factory
Catch items in the cart. Anything that touches the cart's mouth is collected, and the catch line across the floor marks exactly where that happens. Crystals are the mainstay at fifteen points; jewels, diamonds and the occasional rare gem appear as the shift wears on. A dropped crystal breaks your streak but costs no life — only catching scrap does that, which makes Crystal Factory the forgiving member of our catching trio.
Crystals
Worth 15 points. Usually laid out in trails and arcs rather than singly.
Gems
The standard collectible, worth 10 points before your multiplier. The backbone of every streak.
Jewels
Worth 25 points. Hexagonal, and usually placed just past an obstacle.
Diamonds
Worth 50 points. Bright white and always in an awkward position.
Power-ups
Gem Magnet
Pulls nearby gems toward you for eight seconds, so you can hold a streak through an awkward gap.
Gem Multiplier
Doubles the base value of every gem for eight seconds. Stacks on top of your combo multiplier.
Gem Vacuum
Sweeps up every gem in a wide radius automatically for five seconds.
Scoring and combos
Base value times your combo multiplier. Because the shift is long and the pace is gentle, most of a good Crystal Factory score comes from a sustained high multiplier over several minutes rather than from any individual catch. The Gem Multiplier power-up landing during a dense belt run is the standout scoring moment.
Every five gems collected in a row raises your multiplier by one, to a ceiling of five times. A missed gem or an unshielded hit sends it straight back to one. Twenty gems collected as one unbroken chain is worth roughly three times the same twenty gems collected with breaks in between.
Standard streak rules, with the difference that missing a crystal is entirely a routing decision here — nothing is fast enough to be an excuse. Players who chase every item break their streak constantly; players who pick a side of the floor and commit usually hold a five-times multiplier for minutes at a time.
Difficulty
Easy. Fall speed climbs from 220 to 430 pixels per second, the gap between spawns tightens from 1.3 seconds to half a second, and the scrap rate rises from sixteen to fifty-six per cent. Three lives, and dropping a crystal never costs one. The belts speed up alongside everything else, which shortens your preview window without ever removing it.
Tips for a better score
- Watch the belts, not the floor. By the time something is falling, the decision has already been made.
- Commit to a side. Sprinting across the floor for one crystal usually loses two more on the way back.
- Let scrap fall. Catching a crate costs a life; ignoring it costs nothing at all.
- Drag on the canvas instead of using the buttons if you are on a phone — it moves the cart directly and is much faster.
- Use the vacuum on a cluster arriving at both ends at once. It is the only way to have both.
- When two crystals will land at the same time in different places, take the more valuable one and let the streak break knowingly rather than missing both.

Frequently asked questions about Crystal Factory
Do I lose a life if I drop a crystal?
No. Dropping a crystal breaks your combo streak but costs no life. Only catching scrap — a crate, a cutter or a boulder — costs one of your three lives.
What are the belts for?
Items ride a belt across the screen before they fall, which previews where each one will land. Reading the belts is the entire skill of the game; by the time something drops, the decision is already made.
What is the best way to play on a phone?
Drag your finger on the play area. The cart slides straight to it, which is considerably faster than the left and right buttons.
How is this different from Gem Catcher?
Gem Catcher is the punishing version: gems fall straight down with no belt preview, and dropping one costs a life. Crystal Factory previews everything and only punishes catching scrap.
Does the shift ever end?
Only when you lose your third life. It is an endless arcade game, and your score records how long you kept the line running.
